UBS 21/07/09 11:34 Os analistas do UBS esperam que o lucro do BPI ascenda a 92,1 milhões de euros nos primeiros seis meses do ano, o que corresponde a um aumento de 912,2% face ao mesmo período do ano passado."Não esperamos que os resultados [do BPI] no segundo trimestre do ano tragam grandes surpresas", escrevem os peritos do UBS em nota de análise hoje divulgada, na qual prevêem que a margem financeira do banco liderado por Fernando Ulrich cresça 11,6% para 359,8 milhões de euros e que as receitas totais desçam 1,7% para 599,2 milhões de euros. No mesmo documento, o UBS estima que o lucro líquido do BPI ascenda a 92,1 milhões de euros no primeiro semestre, mais 912% do que no mesmo período do ano passado, devido à ausência de itens extraordinários, já que no primeiro semestre o banco registou perdas de 186 milhões de euros devido às imparidades relacionadas com a posição que detinha no BCP na altura. O banco vendeu entretanto a sua participação no banco liderado por Carlos Santos Ferreira. Os analistas do banco suíço consideram que o BPI continua com uma "forte posição" contabilística, sendo esperado que o capital próprio (denominado por 'Tier 1') se situe nos 8,2% e que as necessidades de financiamento da instituição para este ano já estejam concluídas. Os títulos do BPIsubiam 0,94% para 1,93 euros. O banco revela as contas do primeiro semestre já esta quinta-feira, dia 27 de Julho, após o fecho do mercado.

Captain Harry Parker was seriously injured after stepping on a hidden bomb while he led a foot patrol of the 4th Battalion The Rifles in Helmand. The 26-year-old, who is the son of Lieutenant General Sir Nick Parker - the Army's third most senior officer - suffered multiple injuries and bore the brunt of Saturday's blast. Captain Harry Parker was severely injured after losing in a leg in a roadside bomb blast in Afghanistan Sir Nick has been informed of his son's condition and is said to be devastated by the news. Captain Parker was flown back to Britain and is currently in intensive care in Birmingham's Selly Oak Hospital with doctors now fearing he may lose his other leg. A Ministry of Defence spokesman said it was not normal procedure to comment on individual cases. However, he did confirm Captain Parker had lost a leg in the blast and that he remained in a serious condition. Britain's third most senior army officer Lieutenant General Sir Nick Parker is devastated after learning his son Harry was severely injured. News of Captain Parker's condition is a serious blow for Sir Nick who will become the Deputy Commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan in September. A senior army source told The Sun: 'General Sir Nick, his wife and the whole family are understandably devastated by what has happened to Harry. 'The General understands the risks more than most but it is still an appalling thing for any parent to go through.'

John Surtees's son Henry, aged 18, dies in F2 race crash The son of Formula One and 500cc motorcycle champion John Surtees, Henry, died after an accident during a F2 race, aged 18. The young pilot claimed his first F2 podium only on Saturday, when he finished third in the weekend's opening race at Brands. AFP - The 18-year-old son of former F1 world champion John Surtees died Sunday after an accident during a Formula Two race, the hospital treating him said. Henry Surtees was knocked unconscious during the race at the Brands Hatch circuit in Kent, south of London, and was airlifted to hospital with head injuries. "He has died," a spokeswoman for the Royal London hospital told AFP late Sunday, adding that she was unable to release any further details at the request of his family. A statement from the Formula Two championship said Surtees was struck on the head by a wheel and tyre from another car which had hit the tyre wall ahead of him. He was knocked unconscious and his car collided with the barriers. The race was red flagged while the teenager was removed from the car, stabilised and taken to the medical centre. He was transferred from there to the hospital by helicopter. A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said it had been called to the scene at 1.30pm (1230 GMT) and a man was airlifted to hospital with head injuries. Before Surtees' death was confirmed, Formula Two chief executive Jonathan Palmer expressed his "great sadness" at news of the accident, a rare occurrence these days in motor sports. "I would like to express my great sadness that Henry has been injured today. An accident like this would obviously raise high levels of concern," he said. He said his thoughts were with Surtees' parents John and Jane, adding: "We will be providing all the support we can." Surtees secured a drive in F2 following a breakthrough year in 2008 that saw him contest the Formula Renault UK Championship and Winter Series and also make his debut in British Formula Three. His father John is famously the only man to win world championships on two and four wheels, having claimed multiple 500cc motorcycle world championships before winning the F1 crown with Ferrari in 1964.
