As polícias francesa e espanhola detiveram sábado o presumível líder militar da organização separatista basca espanhola ETA bem como oito outros membros do movimento, confirmou hoje o governo espanhol.

Jurdan Martitegi, suspeito de ser principal o líder militar ETA, foi detido sábado na aldeia de Montauriol, no sudoeste da França, acompanhado de dois outros membros presumíveis da organização, Alexander Uriarte Cuadrado e uma outra pessoa não identificada, anunciou o ministério espanhol do Interior, confirmando informações da imprensa. Segundo o comunicado do ministério, seis outros membros presumíveis da ETA foram detidos nas cidades de Bilbau, de Vitória e de Renteria, no norte do País basco espanhol.

Five killed in M1 motorway crash Sunday, April 19 04:18 pm. Five people have been killed after a head-on car crash on the M1 motorway, police have said. A middle-aged mother, her son and daughter, both aged in their 20s, and their uncle were all pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on the southbound M1 in Bedfordshire last night. The family members, thought to be from the London area, were in a Jaguar that collided with a Volkswagen Passat being driven in the wrong direction by a Polish man who also died. Officers said the Volkswagen appeared to have been travelling north on the southbound carriageway when the crash occurred near Luton at around 11.20pm.The collision forced police to close the M1 for around seven hours. Both cars were mangled in the smash, which happened between junctions 10 and 11 and scattered debris over a large part of the carriageway.

Inspector Colin Bonner, from Bedfordshire Road Policing Unit, said he thought the Passat driver was heading south before he turned round and started driving north. Insp Bonner said: "We don't know why this driver turned around - it may have been roadworks, he may have been confused or ill. We are desperate to hear from anyone who saw what happened." A police spokesman said officers were still contacting next-of-kin and were liaising with their counterparts in Poland.

Probe Into Crash Which Killed British Boy Sunday, April 19 05:28 am. Air accident experts are investigating the crash of a tourist plane in Venezuela in which a British boy died and eight UK nationals were injured.  The light aircraft came down near Canaima in the south of the country. Civil protection director Luis Diaz said the plane, a Cessna, crashed on Friday near the runway shortly after take-off. It was bound for Angel Falls, a popular tourist destination in the area. The boy was named as Thomas Horne, six, who was travelling with his parents.

Two of the young men have been wounded to death in the back. One of the injured men at the age of 21 years, Kiril Vazharov, has died on the spot and the other one (24) has died on the way to a hospital. Third their friend has been hospitalized at Pirogov Hospital. The others were not his colleagues.
