1). The EU competition commissioner, Neelie Kroes, who will need to approve the aid, warned last week against a "Buy France" clause. She said France would break EU laws if it demanded that carmakers buy only French car parts or invest only in France in return for government aid.

2). Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek of the Czech Republic, which holds the EU presidency and whose country is home to production for French automakers, said in a statement last week that he had "serious doubts about political involvement in the management of commercial companies and breach of the rules of free competition."

Oliveira e Costa fechou empresa na prisão

O ex-presidente do Banco Português de Negócios (BPN), José Oliveira e Costa, encerrou a empresa Resnostra, que tinha sede na garagem da casa onde reside em Lisboa, 22 dias depois de ter sido detido e Polícia Judiciária e ter ficado em prisão preventiva. A Resnostra Investimentos Lda. foi constituída a 30 de Junho de 2008 e tinha como sede uma garagem na Avenida Pedro Álvares Cabral. À altura da dissolução da empresa, Oliveira e Costa era o sócio-gerente, com uma participação de 4.900 euros no capital da empresa. Os restantes 100 euros pertenciam a outra accionista. A empresa, cuja actividade se prendia com 'Compra e Venda de Bens Imobiliários', foi dissolvida a 12 de Dezembro, quando Oliveira e Costa já se encontrava em prisão preventiva. Sarkozy to unveil details of €6bn car aid

Renault and PSA Peugeot-Citroën are expected to receive €3bn ($3.9bn, £2.6bn) each in preferential loans under a French government rescue plan for its auto industry, to be unveiled by President Nicolas Sarkozy later on Monday. The two carmakers will be lent the money for up to five years at an interest rate between 6 and 7 per cent in return for promising to keep open all their French factories, not shed jobs and not relocate production abroad.

BEIJING, Feb 9 (Reuters) - Fire destroyed a building in Beijing that formed part of Central China Television's new headquarters, as residents launched fireworks throughout the city to celebrate the Lantern Festival. Flames 6-9 metres (20-30 feet) high shot out of the building, which is just north of CCTV's landmark tower.
