Kamila Skolimowska, 2000 Olympic womens' hammer gold medalist, has died.

Kamila Skolimowska, the 200 Olympic champion at the women's hammer throw, is dead, at the age of 26. Complaining of fatigue early in the day, Skolimowska collapsed, regained consciousness, but fainted again. After an hour of not regaining consciousness, according to reports, she was unable to be revived at a local Portugese hospital. SKOLIMOWSKA, 2000 OLYMPIC HAMMER THROW CHAMPION, DIES AFTER TRAINING SESSION Polish media are reporting that Kamila Skolimowska, the 2000 Olympic champion in the hammer throw, died today after collapsing during a training session in Portugal. She was 26. According to several accounts, Skolimowska fainted during a training session after complaining earlier about feeling fatigued. Regaining consciousness, she fainted again and was rushed to a hospital but was not revived. The cause of death is yet to be determined. Just 17 in Sydney when the event was contested by women for the first time at an Olympic Games, Skolimowska was the youngest athlete to win an Olympic gold in track and field in 2000. A two-time medallist at the European Championships, Skolimowska was fourth at the 2004 Olympic Games, and at the 2001 and 2007 World Championships. Skolimowska broke the Polish national record several times, most recently in Doha, Qatar, in 2007, with a throw of 76.83m [252-0], which currently ranks her fourth among throwers all-time.

 

Ilin competed in the men's -94 kg class at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games (in group A) and won the gold medal, snatching 180 kg and jerking 226 kg for a total of 406 kg. He won in sudden death fashion over the Polish competitor Szymon Kołecki who took Silver in the event. Akkhaev of Russia took Bronze. Устно же объяснил, что неловко упал спиной на разбитую бутылку", - сообщили в ДВД. По данным полиции, врачи констатировали колото-резаное ранение грудной клетки, которое было нанесено И. Ильину со спины. В настоящее время состояние здоровья штангиста опасений не вызывает. Однако источники в спортивных кругах сообщают, что в кафе была драка, и тяжелоатлет получил удар ножом в спинy.
