1). German Charter Flight Forced into Emergency Landing
The German air carrier XL Airways has confirmed that one of its aircraft had to make an emergency landing Saturday, Oct. 18 in Belgrade.
The Frankfurt-based firm said its Boeing 737-800 with 188 passengers and crew landed following a warning of an unspecified "engine problem" in the cockpit, spokesman Asger Schubert told the DPA news agency.
Schubert denied Serbian media reports claiming that one of the plane's engines caught fire.
Smoke was seen coming from one of the plane's two engines and firefighters doused the aircraft with foam when it landed, he added.
The pilot reported engine failure before entering Serbian airspace and asked for permission to land in Belgrade, the spokesman said.
"Passengers were safely evacuated and nobody was injured," a spokesperson for Belgrade airport said.
The aircraft was flying from Frankfurt to Antalya in Turkey. Passengers were to be transferred to Turkey with another engine during the day.
XL was founded two years ago. It charters planes to travel agencies, mostly for destinations in the Mediterranean basin.

"Как правило, ОПЕК не устанавливает плановую цену, ее определяет рынок", - заявил глава ОПЕК. "Люди говорят, что минимальная цена, ниже которой мы не можем опуститься, составляет около 70-90 долл./барр.", - добавил Ш.Хелиль и привел в пример Канаду и Бразилию, где добыча нефти не будет производиться в случае, если цены на черное золото упадут ниже 70 долл./барр.
"Очевидно, что для обеспечения рыночного равновесия необходимо будет сократить нефтедобычу", - отметил Ш.Хелиль. "Я не могу сказать точно, каким будет уровень добычи нефти. Решение будет принято на заседании ОПЕК", - заключил глава международного нефтяного картеля.
Внеочередное заседание ОПЕК состоится 24 октября 2008г. в Вене. Первоначально проведение этого мероприятия было запланировано на 18 ноября в Вене. Причиной переноса совещания на более раннюю дату стало ускорившееся падение цены на нефть, достигнувшей 15 октября на нью-йоркской NYMEX самой низкой отметки за 13 с половиной месяцев - 74,54 долл./барр.

Во время визита королева и герцог Эдинбургский встретятся с сотрудниками сайта, победителями интернет-конкурса и пользователями ресурса YouTube, которым владеет Google. Os dois feridos devido a um derrame de ácido, sábado, nas instalações da CUF em Estarreja, já foram transferidos dos Hospitais da Universidade de Coimbra para Aveiro, revelou a chefe de equipa do Serviço de Urgência dos HUC.
Dois dos três feridos graves que deram entrada, sábado, no Hospital de Coimbra devido a uma fuga de gás nas instalações da CUF (adubos, quimicos industriais) do complexo de Estarreja estão estáveis e encontram-se sob vigilância médica. A terceira vítima já recebeu alta hospitalar.
Fonte hospitalar confirmou “a intoxicação por anilina”, adiantando que os dois feridos estão sob “vigilância, a efectuar exames complementares e a receber o tratamento adequado”.
Uma fuga de gás nas instalações da CUF no complexo de Estarreja provocou, na tarde de ontem, 14 feridos, entre os quais três graves.

PARIS (Reuters) - Fraudsters took money from French President Nicolas Sarkozy's personal account after managing to get hold of his bank details, a newspaper reported Sunday.
Sarkozy complained to police in September after "small amounts" were stolen from his account, the Journal du Dimanche newspaper said, quoting sources close to the investigation.
Sarkozy's office confirmed the details, the paper said. Criminal and financial fraud squads and a prosecutor in the Paris suburb of Nanterre were investigating the case.

МОСКВА, 19 окт - РИА Новости. Дорожно-транспортное происшествие с участием 28 автомобилей произошло в воскресенье на востоке Франции на шоссе между городами Мец (Metz) и Буле (Boulay), погиб один человек, 39 получили ранения, сообщает агентство Ассошиэйтед Пресс.
Наряду с легковыми автомобилями в ДТП, произошедшем утром, попали два автобуса и тягач с прицепом.
Скончался 72-летний француз, пострадавших доставили в госпиталь, сообщил представитель местной полиции Жан Француа Корто. Известно, что среди пострадавших - подданный Великобритании. К месту аварии были стянуты 230 полицейских и спасателей.
